People come to counselling for an infinite variety of reasons. It may be that a recent life event – such as bereavement, divorce, redundancy or health issues has left you feeling unsettled and questioning your identity. At other times it could be an ongoing mental health issue, depression or anxiety for example, that spurs you to seek therapeutic help.
Counselling helps us to explore ourselves – why we think and act the way we do, and why it sometimes feels like we’re stuck in patterns of thought and behaviour.
“Only connect…and human love will be seen at its highest. Live in fragments no longer.” EM Forster
A note on definitions: generally, the descriptors ‘counselling’, ‘therapy’ and ‘psychotherapy’ are used interchangeably.
